Les élisions utiles is a digital print created as part of a project entitled Porcelaine numérique (“Digital Porcelain”), which centres on an oscillation between the two- and three-dimensional potentials of porcelain. The porcelain objects in this digital print have been produced from a press-mold made with the texture of bubble-wrap. Delicate forms have thus been fabricated and assembled before being scanned, evoking a space marked by a “disquieting strangeness.” The digital prints issuing from my recent research also allow me to question, through diverse technological translations, the inherent qualities of porcelain, and also the potential transformation in time of this material considered immutable.
Digital print on photorag paper, 31 x 23 in.
